The Rikud Summer Program is rooted in the culture, history, and values of hip hop. Throughout the summer, participants explore all Five Elements of Hip Hop - breaking, MCing, DJing, graffiti, and knowledge - while also discovering the broader culture through street fashion, sneaker culture, street photography using real cameras, and hands-on art experiences including tie-dye and cyanotype (sun print) printing. Every activity is grounded in movement, creativity, collaboration, and cultural education, helping participants understand not only how hip hop is expressed, but where it comes from and why it continues to shape communities around the world.

Participants are divided into two small groups: Littles (ages 4–6) and Bigs (ages 7–10). The Littles program is intentionally play-based, introducing hip hop culture through movement, music, storytelling, rhythm, and creative exploration. The Bigs program takes a more focused approach, combining dance training, creative workshops, cultural education, and independent artistic exploration. Each group is supported by a dedicated teaching artist throughout the day, in addition to our Executive Director and the teaching artists leading each specialized workshop.

As part of our Street Fashion & Sneaker Culture Workshop, participants are invited to bring a pair of white canvas sneakers (such as Keds or Converse) that they have permission to customize. Participants should also bring one white cotton item—such as a T-shirt, tote bag, socks, or bandana—to create their own wearable tie-dye piece to take home.

Families are invited to join us on Friday afternoon for a special exhibition and performance celebrating everything participants created and learned throughout the week.

Cancellation, Withdrawal, and Credit Policy

Because our program runs in small groups and staffing is scheduled in advance, all camp registrations are non-refundable.

If you need to cancel a registered week of camp:

• 30 or more days before the camp week begins: a credit equal to 100% of tuition paid will be issued.

• 14–29 days before the camp week begins: a credit equal to 50% of tuition paid will be issued.

• Less than 14 days before the camp week begins: no credit will be issued.

Credits have no cash value, are non-transferable, and may be applied toward future Rikud programs within 12 months of issuance.

For full-summer registrations, the same cancellation schedule applies prior to the first day of camp. If a participant withdraws after camp has begun, weeks attended will be charged at the standard weekly rate, and any remaining balance will be issued as credit.

Rikud reserves the right to modify schedules, combine age groups, or cancel a camp week if minimum enrollment requirements are not met or due to circumstances beyond its control. If Rikud cancels a program or camp week, families may choose between a full credit or a full refund.

By completing registration and submitting payment, the parent or legal guardian acknowledges and agrees to this cancellation policy and authorizes the payment method provided to be charged for all applicable tuition and fees.
